The Parliamentary Ombudsman (JO) investigates complaint against the University of Gothenburg/HDK-Valand

Published

In March, the University of Gothenburg / HDK-Valand was reported to the Parliamentary Ombudsman (JO) by the Official Council of Swedish Jewish Communities, in connection with the student exhibition by the group HDK-Valand Students for Palestine at Galleri Tripp. JO has now decided to investigate the matter.

The University of Gothenburg has received the referral from JO and has passed the case on to HDK-Valand for processing. JO requests a statement from the university regarding the allegations made in the complaint, particularly concerning how HDK-Valand’s actions relate to Chapter 1, Section 9 of Regeringsformen (the Swedish Instrument of Government)*. The university’s response is due by 19 May.

Anna Blad, Head of Administration at HDK-Valand, is handling the case internally.

*Chapter 1, Section 9 of the Instrument of Government:
Courts of law, public authorities and others performing public administration functions shall observe the principle of equality before the law and shall act objectively and impartially. (Act 2010:1408)
