Insurance
You are covered by an accident insurance during school hours and while traveling to and from the University. You are advised to inquire about your private insurance coverage and read the necessary information in case of illness and injury.
Personal injury insurance for all students
University students in Sweden are covered by an accident insurance from Kammarkollegiet. The insurance applies if you have an accident and suffer a bodily injury. It is valid in Sweden and includes accidents that occur during school hours and while traveling directly between your residence and the University.
For a complete overview of the terms and conditions, or to submit a claim, visit Kammarkollegiet’s information about the insurance for university students in Sweden.
Remember your private insurance
The personal injury insurance for all students does not cover you outside of school (even if you are studying at home, you are not covered there). You are advised to review your private accident insurance and home insurance to ensure that you are fully covered during your stay in Sweden.
Depending on your citizenship, the length of your studies in Sweden and whether you are an exchange student or a tuition fee-paying student, different regulations apply.
Please read the information about Insurance provided by the University's Welcome Services.
Studies or internships abroad (Student OUT)
Students enrolled at the University of Gothenburg who are studying, conducting research, or doing internships abroad are covered by Kammarkollegiet's Student UT insurance. The insurance applies to exchanges conducted within the framework of the University. In this context, "enrolled" refers to being registered in LADOK or an equivalent system.
If you plan to participate in an exchange or internship in a country where you have previously lived or were raised, we recommend contacting Kammarkollegiet to assess your residency status. This assessment may be crucial in determining the applicable insurance terms for you.
If you are a so-called "freemover," meaning you are studying abroad independently, you are NOT covered by this insurance.
