Security within the Artistic Faculty

Published

Due to the school shooting in Örebro on Tuesday, February 4, we have compiled information for students within the Artistic Faculty.

How to act in the event of armed aggression: Run – Hide – Alert

To increase awareness and safety, the university wants to highlight the information provided by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) on their website:

Terrorist attacks and other armed aggression – what to do

You may also find MSB’s informational film Run – Hide – Alert for schools helpful:

Watch the video (Swedish)

In summary, if the worst happens:

  1. Run
  2. Hide – take cover, barricade a door, turn off the lights
  3. Alert 112

After an incident, share only confirmed information to avoid spreading rumors.

The preventive work is the most important

Preventive work is essential. This includes both preparing for the worst—knowing the exits, familiarizing yourself with the classrooms and spaces you frequently use, and considering how you would protect yourself in an emergency—and being aware of behavioral and emotional changes in individuals.

If you are concerned about a student, contact the program coordinator or teacher. GU has established collaborations with student and occupational health services, and additional support is available from the university.
